Geelong forward Gryan Miers is hopeful he has not aggravated the partially torn ACL in his right knee after coming from the field during the second quarter of Saturday's clash against Essendon.
Miers suffered the partial tear in April and opted against surgery to keep his season alive. He missed a month before returning to the senior side, but was later managed out of the team and spent another month in the VFL before returning for the past three matches.
Second-quarter scare
After taking a mark in the second quarter against the Bombers, Miers immediately looked proppy. He was able to take his kick but then left the field, rubbing his knee with a worried expression.
Boundary commentator Ruby Schleicher noted on Fox Footy: "Gryan Miers came off a few minutes ago and has just sat down on the bench and clearly in a bit of discomfort with that knee. He was just walking around trying to keep it warm and seemed to be walking with not too much discomfort, but now probably feels a little more jammed up, particularly given his recent history with the partial ACL tear."
Return and reassurance
Miers returned to the field in a major relief and shed light on the situation at half-time. "It feels alright, I've had these a few times throughout the year," he told Fox Footy. "I've had three or four of these incidents. Pretty confident I'm fine, but it's just frustrating that it keeps showing up and limits me the tiniest bit, but I think I'll be right in the second half."
Miers had more work done on his knee during the break but started the third quarter on the field.
