Police were called to a short-stay property on Discovery Boulevard in Bahrs Scrub, Logan, at about 2.15am on July 26 following reports of an unruly gathering that had spilled into the street.
According to Queensland Police, the large group scattered when officers arrived, but not before several vehicles parked on the road and a neighbouring home had been damaged in the chaos.
Officers then located a 21-year-old Redbank Plains man nearby on Orchard Avenue with serious head injuries. He was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition and died on Saturday, several days after the incident.
Witnesses Recall the Violence
Local residents told 7NEWS at the time that the event was terrifying to witness. "It was pure chaos, they were running all over the place (and) smashing things," one woman said.
Detective Inspector Ian Galpin said at the time: "To describe (the events) as an all-out brawl would be fair." He also confirmed that several other partygoers had been taken to hospital with laceration-type injuries.
Investigation Ongoing
Police have not made any arrests as they continue to search for those responsible. The property had been rented through Booking.com, which said in a statement that it "take these matters seriously and will investigate this property with its trust and safety team".
Authorities are urging anyone with information, including CCTV, home security or dashcam footage from around the time of the incident, to come forward. Investigations remain ongoing.
