Two brothers in Adelaide's eastern suburbs say they no longer feel safe in their own apartment after discovering a naked stranger asleep in a bed following an alleged break-in on Tuesday.
The brothers, who recently moved to Australia from India, had been out for about two hours when the alleged intruder climbed inside. One of the men returned home from the gym to find a completely naked man tucked under the blanket, fast asleep in his bed.
Disturbing discovery
“He took one pillow from my bed and then he came here and slept over here,” Harshil told 7NEWS. His brother arrived home moments later about 8pm and the pair repeatedly asked the stranger to leave. When he refused, they rang the police.
“My brother said, ‘This is not your house, can you please leave the house.’ He was even saying ‘please’ but he wasn’t going outside. He just kept saying, ‘Sorry, sorry, sorry’,” Harshil said.
Aftermath and charges
The brothers said the ordeal has left them frightened to remain in the apartment. Harshil described the alleged intruder as heavily tattooed. “His full body is covered in tattoos down to his legs,” he said.
After officers arrived, the brothers discovered blood stains on the mattress, which they threw out. Police also seized the man's clothing as part of their investigation.
The 33-year-old was arrested and charged with trespassing and failing to provide personal details. He appeared before court on Wednesday, when he indicated he intended to apply for bail. Magistrates requested further documentation before considering the application, remanding him in custody to reappear next week.
