Two people have been charged after an alleged car chase in Queensland that began with a stolen Mercedes and ended with police deploying a tyre deflation device.
The Chase
Officers responding to an unrelated job spotted a man and woman allegedly stealing a Mercedes sedan on Spencer St in Redbank about 7.25pm on Friday. They chased the pair east toward Brisbane, before the 30-year-old man behind the wheel jumped out at a shopping centre in Moorooka.
Police chased him through the carpark, as the passenger allegedly jumped into the driver's seat and fled. The man was arrested shortly after and charged with nine offences including two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle and driving of a motor vehicle without a driver licence.
Arrests and Charges
He faced Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday. The 29-year-old woman allegedly continued on in the car until police deployed a tyre deflation device and arrested her. She was charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 31.
