Key-Sun Laboratories has issued a nationwide recall of its Kids Honey and Eucalyptus + Acerola Lozenges (54g) due to concerns the product may contain metal fragments. The affected lozenges were sold at pharmacies and chemists across New South Wales, the ACT, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia, and were also available for purchase online in NSW.
The recall applies to packs marked with a use-by date of June 2028. Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) said there was a risk the product may contain foreign matter (metal).
Additional batches recalled
Key-Sun said two customers found small metal wires in lozenges, which the company believes likely became lodged in the products during manufacturing. As a result, and in agreement with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), the company has also recalled affected batches of other lozenges manufactured at the same facility during 2025:
- Kids Cough Homoeopathic Product Multi Pack (12 lozenges)
- Kids Cold Homoeopathic Product Raspberry (10 lozenges)
- Kids Cough, Cold and Throat Homoeopathic Product Variety Pack (12 lozenges)
- Kids Cough Homoeopathic Product Orange (10 lozenges)
- Kids Travel Sickness Homoeopathic Product Strawberry (10 lozenges)
- Kids Throat Homoeopathic Product Pine-Lime (10 lozenges)
The recalled batches have expiry dates ranging from February 2028 to January 2029.
Health risks and consumer advice
“If a small metal wire is present, this could result in a child cutting their mouth,” Key-Sun said. “If any pieces of metal are swallowed by a child, this may result in damage to the digestive tract and present a choking hazard.”
No other batches of Key Sun Kids Homeopathic Products are affected by this recall, the company said. Consumers are advised not to eat the lozenges and should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Anyone concerned about their health after consuming the product should seek medical advice.
