Victoria Police are investigating a fire attack on a defence manufacturer as an act of terrorism, potentially orchestrated by far-left extremists with anarchist and revolutionary ideologies.
The incident occurred in July 2025 at Lovitt Industries in Melbourne, where three vehicles were set on fire and the building was graffitied. Police said on Wednesday that the attack is being probed as an act of terrorism.
Footage Emerges
Footage has emerged showing a masked figure standing behind flames, claiming they had targeted Lovitt Industries for supplying parts to the global F-35 fighter jet program. Their message was to “stop arming Israel or else”.
“The extremist group posted an online video claiming responsibility for the attack,” Victoria Police said on Wednesday. The video also included instructions to launch similar firebombing attacks.
Police Condemn Violence
“That anyone would use such violent and dangerous methods to express a political or social viewpoint is unacceptable,” Victoria Police Detective Acting Superintendent Anthony Wheatfill said.
The offenders could face life in prison if caught and found guilty.
